{"id":2994,"date":"2020-04-10T11:01:06","date_gmt":"2020-04-10T05:31:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.24x7serversupport.com\/blog\/?p=2994"},"modified":"2020-04-10T11:01:08","modified_gmt":"2020-04-10T05:31:08","slug":"resetting-mysql-admin-password-in-plesk-windows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.24x7serversupport.com\/blog\/resetting-mysql-admin-password-in-plesk-windows\/","title":{"rendered":"resetting MySQL admin password in Plesk windows"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Attempts to manage customer\u2019s MySQL databases produce errors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Error: Connection to the database server has failed because of network problems: Try to establish connection failed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MySQL server is marked in red on the <strong>Tools &amp; Settings > Database Servers<\/strong> screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This problem may be caused by Parallels Plesk Panel (Plesk) storing an incorrect MySQL server administrator password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To solve the problem and reconnect Plesk with the MySQL server, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Stop the MySQL server (but not \u201cPlesk SQL Server\u201d) from running on port 3306 using the <strong>Plesk Services Monitor<\/strong> tray utility.<\/li><li>Edit the MySQL configuration file, %plesk_dir%\\Databases\\MySQL\\Data\\my.ini, and add the line skip-grant-tables to the [mysqld] section.<\/li><li>Start the MySQL server.<\/li><li>Log in to MySQL without the password:<\/li><li>\u201c%plesk_dir%\\Databases\\MySQL51\\bin\\mysql.exe\u201d<\/li><li>Change the password for the MySQL administrator:<\/li><li>UPDATE mysql.user SET Password = password(\u2018newpassword\u2019) WHERE User = \u2018admin\u2019;<\/li><li>Remove skip-grant-tables from the MySQL configuration file and restart the service.<\/li><li>Log in to the Plesk interface, go to database server management settings (<strong>Tools &amp; Settings &gt; Database Servers<\/strong>), and change the password for the corresponding database server to the one set in step 5.
