Link: <a href=\"https:\/\/kb.plesk.com\/en\/127962\">https:\/\/kb.plesk.com\/en\/127962<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> Upgrade can be performed by using the instructions below at your own risk:<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Ubuntu 12.0.8 and 14.04, Debian 7:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ubuntu 14.04 is shipped with MySQL 5.5 by default.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Create a full server backup and server snapshot.<\/li>\n<li>Create a backup of <code>\/etc\/mysql\/my.cnf<\/code>:\n<pre><code>[code]cp \/etc\/mysql\/my.cnf{,_original}[\/code]\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Add the MySQL APT Repository:\n<ul>\n<li>Go to the download page for the MySQL APT repository at <a href=\"http:\/\/dev.mysql.com\/downloads\/repo\/apt\/\">http:\/\/dev.mysql.com\/downloads\/repo\/apt\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Select and download the release package for your platform:\n<pre><code>[code]wget http:\/\/dev.mysql.com\/get\/mysql-apt-config_0.6.0-1_all.deb[\/code]\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Install the downloaded release package:\n<pre><code>[code] dpkg -i mysql-apt-config_0.6.0-1_all.deb[\/code]\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>During the installation of the package, you will be asked to choose the versions of the MySQL server and other components that you want to install. If you are not sure which version to choose, do not change the default options selected for you. You can also choose <strong>none<\/strong> if you do not want a particular component to be installed.
